Steward Assignment Faithfully

Tears flowed uncontrollably. The Lord had just helped me connect the dots and His love overwhelmed me.

You see, in my early twenties, God had deposited His seed of overseas missions in my heart. Fascinated by the prayer of James Outram Fraser, a British missionary to China, “Give me Lisus or I die”, I fell in love with his biography recorded in “Mountain Rain”. As I drank his story of sacrifice and spunk for the gospel of the kingdom to reach the Lisu people, I prayed earnestly for God to “send me out”. He did, and I served Him in Thailand for two years. Years passed and much as I yearned to be sent out again, God did not say so. The seed for overseas missions remained. When I was at Tung Ling Bible School, the Lord had given me two words: Mentoring and Missions. Currently, I am involved in mentoring work. But Lord, what about overseas missions?

Through a series of events, God kept leading me to serve alongside Archippus Awakening. Much of the work I do involves writing and communications. Although it seemed that I was moving away from reaching the nations, I obeyed the Lord. The nagging desire for overseas missions nudged at me every now and then. But God. He says, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9)

Little did I expect that as I stay faithful to steward this God-given kingdom assignment with Archippus Awakening, I would be part of a mission by Archippus Awakening fanning out to the nations. Pastor Henson Lim writes in his book A lignment Check, “If you believe the Lord has given you an assignment, then just obey. Take the next step and see how He comes through for you. You can only experience something when you finally experience it.”

This is so true for me. When I took the step to obey God in fulfilling my kingdom assignment with Archippus Awakening, He equipped me to be a digital missionary today. COVID-19 may have broken out but digitally we have broken through. I have opportunities to build relational networks with overseas partners towards advancement of His kingdom. God has come through with His word.
