He Caused It!

Surprise! God is the One Who Caused Your Situation.

Psalm 39

Save me from all my transgressions; do not make me the scorn of fools. I was silent; I would not open my mouth, for You are the one who has done this. Psalms‬ ‭39‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭

As you ponder on your situation, you may discover that God is the cause of it. Yet He is still in control. We need to realise that some of our struggles are really struggles against God. God is the one who causes the situation. God is trying to teach us a lesson. We are fighting against the situation. We are really fighting against God.

(Remember Jesus asking Paul why he was kicking against the goads in Acts‬ ‭9‬:‭4‬-‭5: Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.”)

Are we fighting against God? Often,  outward actions mask an inward conflict. Deal with the conflict inside. Pray like David did:

‭‭‬ ‭Hear my prayer, O Lord! Listen to my cries for help! Don’t ignore my tears. For I am Your guest— a traveller passing through, as my ancestors were before me. Psalms‬ ‭39‬:‭12‬ ‭

Confess our sins. Weep over our wilfulness. Ultimately we need to cry over our own sin.

When our situation is so desperate we are reduced to tears, we can be quite sure we have found the language that persuades. John Philips

Our tears melt God’s heart. As you weep, trust in Him.
